Chapter 10

Day 299

“Come on, sister bear. You’ve got to get out of bed sometime.” Duncan laughs as he shakes me awake.

“Go away, Dunc. The baby kept me up all night.” I reply while burying my head into my pillow before groaning as he shakes me again.

“Come on, Sis. You need to get up and eat breakfast.” He shakes me once more.

I don’t move and I let out a sigh of relief when he leaves the room.

Smiling smugly I snuggle back into bed.

“Get your butt up now, Sweetheart.” Cowboy barks out abruptly as he walks into the room a few moments later before stomping over to the bed.

I peek up at his smug grin with a glare.

Then I turn my glare to Duncan.

He chuckles and raises his hand up in surrender. “Hey, I told you to get up and I knew you wouldn’t be able to fight him.” He points towards Cowboy.

“Why does everyone act like you’re some big bad ass, Russ? You’re not much bigger than him, and he’s acting like your some Greek god that could knock him dead with a single look.” I state seriously and he laughs out hysterically.

“Sis, have you seen the guy’s arms? He’s huge. I wouldn’t stand a chance against him.” Duncan snorts.

“He’s nothing but a big teddy bear.” I reply as Cowboy gets a serious look.

“Now, don’t be telling everyone my secret. I’d rather them think I’m some hard-ass.” He grunts while puffing out his chest dramatically.

I laugh again and sit up in the bed before rubbing my belly as the baby begins kicking again.

I groan and Cowboy comes closer, looking concerned. “Is it really kicking that hard?” He asks while placing his hands against my belly.

“Yeah, it feels like there are two of them fighting for room in there. It’s painful at times.” I answer with another groan.

He backs away looking to me first and then to Duncan curiously.

“I know that you two are brother and sister, but you two look to similar for it to be that easy. Am I missing something?” He asks as he motions between us.

Duncan laughs. “We’re twins. It runs in our…” His words trail off as he looks to me in shock.

“Oh, crap.” I curse as I realize what he had been about to say.

“I second that.” Cowboy states quietly. “I’m going to go find the Doc. I’ll be right back.”

I nod and look to Duncan as Cowboy rushes out of the room.

“It’s not so bad, Sis. I think it would be awesome to have another set of twins in the family.” He sighs while running his hands through his hair.

“Yeah, but you’re not the one who has to birth them, Duncan.” My I reply as my breathing starts to become shallow as I panic.

“Breathe, Sis, you’re going to hurt yourself if you have a panic attack now.” He sits on the bed with me and takes his hand in mine.

Lee and Cowboy rush in before the Doc begins checking my heart and blood pressure.

“I should have thought of this sooner.
